FCB Women beat St. Gallen 5-2 at Campus

FC Bayern Women tested themselves against Swiss top-flight club FC St. Gallen in a behind-closed-doors friendly at the FC Bayern Campus on Thursday afternoon. The Munich girls comfortably won 5-2 in their first pre-season game. Alara Şehitler (34') and Georgia Stanway (39') gave FCB Women a 2-0 lead at the break. In the second half, Bayern were undeterred by an early St. Gallen goal and sealed a deserved win through a Pernille Harder brace (59', 75') and Jovana Damnjanović (61'), with the visitors' second goal in the 81st minute nothing more than a consolation.

First outing for Zigiotti

Along with the injured players, head coach Alexander Straus was without Lea Schüller, Giulia Gwinn, Klara Bühl and Sydney Lohmann, who are competing for Germany at the Olympic Games. New signing Julia Zigiotti Olme made her first appearance in red, replacing Magdalena Eriksson on the hour mark.

It was one-way traffic in the first half.

Bayern were the dominant side from minute one on their home training pitch, with the visitors from Switzerland barely threatening in the first 45 minutes. Harder came close to the opening goal in the eighth minute, heading just over from a fine corner from Carolin Simon. It was Şehitler who netted the deserved opener in the 34th minute with a clean shot into the bottom left corner. Five minutes later, she forced her way through again and drilled the ball into the penalty area, where it came to Stanway to make it 2-0.

Visitors start second half strongly

St. Gallen made the better start to the second period and capitalised in the 47th minute, when Jasmin Colombo reduced the deficit to 2-1. However, Bayern were not deterred and regained a comfortable cushion thanks to a quickfire double from Harder and Damnjanović. Harder made it a brace with a brilliant long-range strike from the left touchline, making it 5-1. Sara Nilsson pulled a goal back for the visitors in the closing stages.
