Finally back home! FC Bayern Women host RB Leipzig in the Google Pixel Women's Bundesliga on Friday 13 September (kick-off 18:30 CEST) in their first home match of the new season. Tickets are sold out for the game, which is being shown live on DAZN, DF1 and Magenta Sport in Germany.
The state of play
Three competitions, three games, three wins: that's FCB Women's record from the 2024/25 campaign to date. The Munich girls started off with the 1-0 win in the Supercup against VfL Wolfsburg, before beating promoted side Turbine Potsdam 2-0 in the Bundesliga opener. Last weekend, the defending German champions reached the round of 16 in the DFB Cup with a comfortable 6-0 victory over second-tier SC Sand.
Alexander Straus' side are now aiming to continue this winning run in front of a home crowd on Friday evening. Talking of runs: Bayern Women are now unbeaten in 40 Bundesliga matches. If they also manage to avoid defeat against Leipzig, they'd set a new Bundesliga record!
The opponents
Leipzig, who finished eighth last season, also began the new Bundesliga campaign with three points, beating 1. FC Köln 2-1 thanks to a winning goal from former Bayern player Julia Landenberger. However, the Saxony side then suffered a setback in the cup as they lost 1-0 away to Bundesliga 2 outfit Union Berlin and exited the competition.
The team news
For the home match against Leipzig, Straus is without the services of long-term absentees Lena Oberdorf (ACL and MCL), Katharina Naschenweng (knee joint) and Franziska Kett (ankle). Magdalena Eriksson also remains absent due to a knee problem. Ana Maria Guzman (knee) is still building up her fitness and has completed parts of team training. Alara Şehitler is away at the U20 World Cup in Colombia along with Laura Gloning and Sarah Ernst.
The pre-match quotes
Alexander Straus: "Leipzig are a very good team. We're looking forward to playing them. If we play our game on the pitch, we have a good chance of landing the next success. That's what we're focusing on as a team. We're all really looking forward to the first home game of the season, especially as it's a while since the last match at the Campus."
Carolin Simon: "Leipzig have shown in the past that they're well capable of troubling bigger opponents, so it's about being 100 percent focused. Every team that plays against us always throws everything in."
On Monday, the premiere of the FC Bayern Women documentary took place:
