No time to rest – another big match awaits! FC Bayern Women host TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday, 22 March in the DFB Cup semi-finals. The two Bundesliga clubs will battle it out from 14:00 CET at the FC Bayern Campus for a place in the final in Cologne on 1 May. The match is being broadcast live on Sky in Germany.
Latest news from Bayern
The Munich girls progressed to the last four after a drama in the quarter-finals against Eintracht Frankfurt. Jovana Damnjanović left it until the 90th minute to level the score at 1-1, before goals from Glódís Perla Viggósdóttir, Momoko Tanikawa and another from Damnjanović made it 4-1 in extra time.
In the league, Bayern extended their lead at the top last weekend. A comfortable 3-1 win against VfL Wolfsburg, coupled with Frankfurt’s defeat at Freiburg, leaves them six points clear of the Hessians.

The opponents: Hoffenheim
Hoffenheim caused a stir in the quarter-finals by knocking out Wolfsburg, who have won the cup in 11 of the last 12 years. Ereleta Memeti scored the only goal to ensure that for the first time since FCB in 2012, a team other than the She-Wolves will lift the cup in Cologne.
The Kraichgau outfit currely occupy sixth place in the Bundesliga, having won three of their last five games, including a 1-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen. However, Bayern have come out on top in both meetings this season, winning 5-1 at home and then coming from behind to win 3-1 in the reverse fixture.
The team news
Head coach Alexander Straus is still without long-term absentees Lena Oberdorf (knee ligaments), Katharina Naschenweng (knee joint) and Georgia Stanway (knee ligaments) for this one.

The pre-match quotes
Assistant coach Clara Schöne: “Hoffenheim have developed tremendously and are very strong opponents. We have a good plan to counter that. We’re a team that stick together well and are used to playing these kinds of games. That can be an advantage for us. We certainly want to win this game and progress to the cup final.”
Sarah Zadrazil: “The excitement for the semi-final is huge. We’re desperate to get to Cologne again and do better than last year. Hoffenheim are extremely good going forward, they’ve got some very dangerous strikers, so we’ll have to defend very well and tightly. We’re mainly concentrating on our strengths, though. A place in the final is at stake, both teams are well aware of that. The fire will be burning tomorrow.”
