When the cup season starts like this... Bayern set off fireworks in their 12-0 (5-0) first round win at Bremer SV and advanced to the second round with confidence. We've put together some facts about the game.
1. Second biggest win since promotion to the Bundesliga
The 12-0 triumph was the record cup winners' second-highest win since promotion to the Bundesliga. Bayern reached double-digits in a competitive game for the first time since their record win, the 16-1 victory at DJK Waldberg in the DFB Cup in August 1997. It was also the highest victory in the competition since 1. FC Kaiserslautern's 15-0 win at FC Schönberg 95 in August 2004.
2. Opening win record for Bayern
With the first round win, Bayern survived their opening game in the DFB Cup for the 27th time in a row, a record in the competition.
3. Gala performance by Choupo-Moting
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored four times against the Oberliga club and set up three goals for his teammates. This makes him the first Bayern player since Claudio Pizarro (March 2005 against Freiburg), to manage a four-goal haul in the DFB Cup. The 32-year-old is also the first ever player at FCB to have been directly involved in seven goals in a DFB Cup game since records began (2008/09).
4. Strong start for Nagelsmann
With their strong start in the cup, Bayern celebrated their third competitive win in a row and are now undefeated in four games under Julian Nagelsmann. This was the first clean sheet.
5. Two debut goals for starlets
As well as Bouna Sarr, debutant Malik Tillmann also scored his first goal in the Bayern shirt in Bremen. At 19 years and 89 days, the youngster is the youngest Bayern player this millennium to score on his competitive debut.
6. Bayern did not ease up
The Munich side recorded 37 shots on goal in Bremen - this is the highest figure in the DFB Cup since the beginning of last season.
