FC Bayern players receive VDV awards

Congratulations, gents! After being voted into the Bundesliga Team of the 2022/23 Season by the players' union VDV, Matthijs de Ligt, Dayot Upamecano, Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala have received their awards in Munich.

Alphonso Davies received 38.2% of the votes, his pal Jamal Musiala 65.3%.

Voted for the players by the players – in the customary vote held by the German professional footballers' union, all players in the Bundesliga, Bundesliga 2, 3. Liga, regional leagues well as all other VDV members get to vote. Team advisor and ex-pro Alexander Voigt presented Kimmich and Co with their prizes at Säbener Straße.

Musiala third overall

Along with the five-man Bayern contingent, Dortmund pair Gregor Kobel and Jude Bellingham, Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong, Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol, Frankfurt's Randal Kolo Muani and Bremen's Niclas Füllkrug also made it into the VDV's XI from the past season.

Matthijs de Ligt got 56.8% in the vote.

Bellingham, now at Real Madrid, received the most votes overall, ahead of Kolo Muani (now at PSG) and title-winning goalscorer Musiala.

31.7% voted for Dayot Upamecano.

About the VDV

The 'Vereinigung der Vertragsfußballspieler e.V.' ('Association of Professional Footballers') represents the interests of footballers working in Germany. It supports over 1,400 members with professional services in areas such as employment law, medicine, sports psychology and media training. The VDV was set up by active players in 1987.
