Austria started the new UEFA Nations League campaign with a 1-1 draw in Slovenia on Friday. The goalscorer for Ralf Rangnick's men in Ljubljana was Bayern midfielder Konrad Laimer. The 27-year-old played the full 90 minutes in midfield, was voted Man of the Match by fans and netted the equaliser after 28 minutes with his fifth international goal. RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko had put the hosts in front with a penalty in the 16th minute. On Monday, Austria travel to Norway, who themselves only managed a 0-0 draw against Kazakhstan on Matchday 1.
Olise makes France debut
After his first few outings for Bayern in the DFB Cup and Bundesliga, Michael Olise also made his maiden appearance for the French senior national team. The 22-year-old went straight into Didier Deschamps' starting line-up for the Nations League opener against Italy, and he didn't have to wait long for a first goal celebration. With just 13 seconds on the clock, Bradley Marcola gave Les Bleus the lead. Olise could've made it 2-0 in the 11th minute but was denied by Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Italy then came into the game more and equalised through Federico Dimarco in the 30th minute. Davide Frattesi completed the turnaround for the visitors (50') before Giacomo Raspadori made it 3-1. Olise was replaced by Ousmane Dembelé on 58 minutes, while Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano did not feature on this occasion.
Tel starts for France U21s
Bayern striker Mathys Tel also wore the blue, white and red for the French U21 side in their U21 EURO qualifier against Slovenia. The French earned a draw thanks to Désiré Doué in the 54th minute after trailing to Tio Cipot's goal (37'). Tel was substitued for Georginio Rutter after 69 minutes.
