Germany: Kimmich, Musiala & Pavlović
Germany kick off their Nations League campaign with a game against Hungary in Düsseldorf on 7 September (8.45pm). They are then in Amsterdam on 10 September to face the Netherlands (8.45pm). Julian Nagelsmann has chosen three Bayern players for the first games following the home Euros, with Aleksandar Pavlović returning to the fold alongside Kimmich and Musiala after he had to pull out of the summer’s tournament with tonsillitis.
France: Upamecano & Olise
Michael Olise helped France to a silver medal at the Paris Olympics this summer and is now in line to earn his first senior cap after the 21-year-old was called up by Didier Deschamps for the Nations League games against Italy in Paris (6 September, 8.45pm) and Belgium in Lyon (9 September, 8.45pm). Dayot Upamecano is also among the 23-man squad looking to put their 2-1 Euro semi-final loss to Spain behind them.
England: Kane
There’s change for England after Gareth Southgate stood down in the wake of the 2-1 loss to Spain in the final of the Euros. It means the Three Lions go into their first two Nations League games under interim boss Lee Carsley, who has named a 26-man squad headed by Harry Kane as they take on Ireland in Dublin (7 September, 5pm BST) and Finland at Wembley (10 September, 7.45pm BST).
The Bayern striker led England at the Euros this summer and was presented with the Golden Shoe as Europe’s top scorer in 2023/24 this past Tuesday.
Portugal: Palhinha
João Palhinha will join up with Portugal for two home games in Lisbon against Croatia (5 September, 7.45pm BST) and Scotland (8 September, 7.45pm BST). Bayern’s new midfielder was a key part of Portugal’s team at the Euros in Germany under coach Roberto Martinez.
Austria: Laimer
Austria were one of the surprise packages of Euro 2024, topping a group that included France, the Netherlands and Poland. They’ll be looking to achieve the feat again in the Nations League, with Bayern midfielder Konrad Laimer among the 21 players called up by coach Ralf Rangnick for the Group B3 games against Slovenia in Ljubljana (6 September, 8.45pm) and against Norway in Oslo (9 September, 8.45pm).
South Korea: Kim
Minjae Kim will be with South Korea as they begin the third round of Asian qualification for the 2026 World Cup. The two-time Asian Cup winners came top of their section in the second round and now host Palestine in Seoul (5 September, 8pm KST/ 1pm CEST) before visiting Muscat to face Oman (10 September, 6pm GST/4pm CEST). South Korea’s Footballer of the Year has been included in coach Myung-bo Hung’s 26-man squad. Their third qualifier in October takes them to Amman in Jordan.
anada: Davies
Alphonso Davies and Canada face their fellow 2026 World Cup hosts in two friendlies this month. Jesse Marsch’s team start against the USA in Kansas City (7 September, 3pm CDT) before heading to Arlington, Texas to face Mexico (10 September, 7.30pm CDT).
France U21s: Tel
Mathys Tel will be in qualification action for France’s U21s for next year’s Euros. The Bayern forward will face Slovenia in Angers (6 September) and Bosnia and Herzegovina in Le Mans (10 September). Gérald Baticle’s team are currently second in Group H with nine points from four games, three behind Slovenia but with a game in hand.
