He scores and scores and scores! There is simply no stopping Harry Kane. Since his move to Munich, the FC Bayern striker has gone from one record to the next. On Friday night, the 31-year-old scored a second-half hat-trick against FC Augsburg, with the third goal in the 3-0 win taking him to 50 in the Bundesliga. Kane has needed just 43 games in the German top flight to reach that mark, becoming the fastest player in the league's history to do so. By comparison, in second place in this ranking is Erling Haaland, who netted his 50th goal in his 50th game for Borussia Dortmund. Third place is held by Timo Konietzka (63 games), with Uwe Seeler and FCB legend Roy Makaay (both 67) in fourth.
Kompany hails Kane's patience
It didn't really look like Kane was going to celebrate three or more goals for the eighth time in a Bayern shirt on this freezing-cold November night. The Bayern frontman was closely marked by the deep-sitting and heavily manned Augsburg defence. But the number nine waited for his moment and capitalised on it in typically cool manner – twice from the penalty spot and once with the head. "That's what makes it so difficult against Harry Kane: you can defend well against him the whole game, but then eventually the space opens up and he strikes," praised Bayern boss Vincent Kompany. "He always knows that when he gets the opportunities, he can score goals."
Impressive penalty record
One quality that particularly stands out among Kane's many attributes is his incredible coolness. The England captain demonstrated this again against Augsburg, confidently converting two spot-kicks. Kane has now taken 16 penalties for the Bavarians – and scored all 16. "I've never seen him miss one," raved team-mate Joshua Kimmich. "In general we have complete faith in him and he repays that faith. To take and score a penalty like that is a real quality. It's always regarded as easy from the outside but it's quite extraordinary."
His goalscoring rate overall is unmatched. Kane has now plundered a whopping 64 goals in 62 competitive appearances for FCB, with 20 already this season. That's the highest figure among all players in Europe's top five leagues, ahead of Robert Lewandowski in second (19, Barcelona). Bayern fans will be hoping that their top goalscorer will be chasing down more records as early as next Tuesday in the Champions League home game against Paris Saint-Germain.
