Nikola Vasilj was at full stretch in the St. Pauli goal but unable to get a hand to Jamal Musiala’s thumping 30-yard effort that just flicked off the underside of his crossbar and into the back of the net. But nobody could blame the goalkeeper. Musiala’s shot was simply unstoppable at the Millerntor.

It was a moment of magic that also mesmerised Bayern fans, who voted the strike the club’s Goal of the Month for 2024. The Germany international took almost half of all votes (49.7%) to beat Harry Kane’s majestic control and header against Augsburg (40.2%). Sarah Zadrazil rounding off the 3-0 win at home to Valerenga for the Women came third (7%).
But Musiala’s goal in Hamburg was just as crucial as it was special. It was the only goal of the day and underlined the 21-year-old’s impact on results over the last month. He also got the only goal in the 1-0 win over Benfica in the Champions League and grabbed a late equaliser away at Borussia Dortmund.
