Facts ahead of FC Bayern vs. VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga

FC Bayern's upcoming Bundesliga home game against VfL Bochum on Saturday (15.30 CET) will be all about the German record champions' 125th birthday. To mark the occasion, Jamal Musiala, Michael Olise and Co. will be sporting red and gold anniversary jerseys for the clash with the club from the Ruhr valley. Naturally, the men from Munich will be aiming to crown this special afternoon with a win and further consolidate their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table. A glance at the stats should encourage head coach Vincent Kompany's team in achieving that: Read about the German record champions' outstanding home form and which scoring record awaits them in our key facts and stats on the game here.

Fortress Allianz Arena! The German record champions have won all ten of their most recent Bundesliga clashes in front of a home crowd. That's the longest run since the 2018/19 season, when FCB won 11 league games in a row at home. Harry Kane and Co. have scored at least three goals in all ten of their previous home games - if they add an 11th success with at least three goals on Saturday, that would be a record in Germany's top flight. Only Bayern themselves previously achieved this in 1993.

FCB have dropped just two points at home in the Bundesliga. No other club in Europe's five big leagues has such a good record, and this is also reflected in the table: The men from Munich have picked up 61 points from 24 games so far, their best Bundesliga campaign in nine seasons. In 2015/16 it was actually as high as 62 points. Bayern have only previously amassed more points three times at this stage: 2013/14 (68 points), 2012/13 (63) and 2015/16 (62).

VfL Bochum are always welcome visitors to Munich, and not just because of the clubs' fan friendship. The German record champions have lost just one of their 37 Bundesliga home games against this weekend's opponents (28 wins, eight draws). FCB have not been beaten by VfL at home since a 2-0 defeat in August 1991. Bayern have even won two of their last three Bundesliga home games against the club from the Ruhr valley 7-0 - the highest ever defeats in the top flight for Bochum.

Dangerous in front of goal and confident passers

It is not at all unlikely that the Bavarian attack will get into high gear again on Saturday, given that Kompany's side are also on top scoring form this season. FCB racked up a total of 72 goals in their first 24 Bundesliga games. Only Bayern themselves had previously scored so many goals at this stage in the 2021/22 season. FCB's 19 goals from set pieces are also the most scored by any team in the league - together with VfL Wolfsburg - and no other team has conceded as few goals from set-pice situations as the German record champions (four). Moreover, no other team in the league is as reliable at passing the ball as FCB: Joshua Kimmich and Co. have a pass completion rate of 90 per cent and have even played the most passes per game (731). VfL Bochum, meanwhile, have the lowest pass completion rate of all 18 teams (74 per cent).
