First training session: FC Bayern get started in new year

Back to work! Thirteen days after the final match of 2025, head coach Vincent Kompany welcomed the FC Bayern players back to Säbener Straße on Saturday for the first team training session of the new year. Sunshine and snow made it a winter wonderland in Munich, as Harry Kane and Co gathered on the pitch in thick layers but in good spirits. And they soon worked up a sweat in the session that followed.

Following the warm-up in the gym, various coordination exercises, runs, passing games as well as thorough match situation drills formed the programme on the pitch. Jamal Musiala, who had already trained individually on Friday, was also involved as he continues to work towards his comeback. Manuel Neuer, who sustained a hamstring strain in December, and Joshua Kimmich, who missed the last game of the year against Heidenheim with an ankle problem, both completed individual programmes. Also absent was Nicolas Jackson, who’s currently in action at the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal. New assistant coach Daniel Fradley was in attendance for the first time alongside Kompany.
