FC Köln, the ball was dangerously close to going out after a fine touch from the winger in the penalty area. But instead of shooting directly at goal from what seemed a difficult position, Gnabry hit it into the ground, making the ball then loop over Köln custodian Marvin Schwäbe and into the net to make it 1-1.

Supporters of the German record champions were also impressed and voted for Gnabry’s clever bit of skill as their FC Bayern Goal of the Month. The Reds’ number seven received 43 percent of the votes, beating off fine efforts from Harry Kane (27%) in the 8-1 win over VfL Wolfsburg and Jamal Musiala (18%) to open the scoring in Eindhoven. It’s Gnabry’s second Goal of the Month gong of the campaign after his stunner in the Bundesliga match against Hamburger SV in September.

It might not be that much of a surprise that Gnabry produced this artistic strike against Köln of all teams. It was the Germany international’s 12th goal against the Billy Goats – the only club he’s hit double figures against in the Bundesliga.
