Neuer, Kane, Kimmich: The numbers behind opening win against Bodø/Glimt

Bayern toiled at first, but in the end they ran out convincing 5-0 winners against FK Bodø/Glimt to kick off the Champions League season. With that, the Reds extended two record runs, remaining unbeaten for a 39th consecutive home game in the group/league phase of the competition as well as winning their opening fixture for the 23rd time in a row. We’ve compiled some other impressive numbers that Vincent Kompany’s side posted against the Norwegians.

9 – Since the introduction of the league phase in the Champions League for the 2024/25 season, FC Bayern have won all nine home matches in the first stage of the competition.

8 – Harry Kane scored for the eighth Champions League game running against Bodø. He’s only the fourth player after Robert Lewandowski, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ruud van Nistelrooy to go on such a long goalscoring streak.

34 – Kane also netted his 34th Champions League for Bayern in his 39th appearance. Since his move to Munich in summer 2023, no player has been more prolific in Europe’s premier club competition. Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland trail him with 31 and 24 goals respectively.

18 – Manuel Neuer has now featured in 18 different Champions League campaigns, a new outright record for a German player in the competition, previously shared with Thomas Müller (17). 

40 – Neuer also became the oldest German player in the history of the competition at the age of 40 years and 167 days, surpassing Jens Lehmann (40 years and 127 days).

100 – Joshua Kimmich started for the 100th time in the Champions League tonight, becoming only the fifth Bayern Munich player to reach this mark in the competition after Oliver Kahn, Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller and Philipp Lahm.
