Reaction to Bundesliga game against RB Leipzig – Joshua Kimmich: ‘We were on another level’
Bayern were in scintillating form at the Allianz Arena on Saturday night as they beat RB Leipzig 6-1 in the Bundesliga. It was the perfect response to the week’s two draws against Augsburg and Viking, as well as the ideal boost ahead of hosting Arsenal in the Champions League next week. “We were on another level,” enthused stand-in captain Joshua Kimmich, who was particularly happy for Luis Díaz after his hat-trick and assist. Board member for sport Max Eberl added of the three-goal hero: “Lucho used the international break well, being able to rest up having not joined up with the national team. He’s an incredibly important player for us, especially looking ahead to Wednesday.” fcbayern.com rounds up the reaction from the Matchday 6 encounter.
Reaction to Bundesliga game against RB Leipzig

Max Eberl (board member for sport): “That was really impressive. We were focused and all over them from the start. We’d caused ourselves issues at times in the last two games. We really wanted to avoid that today. We put Leipzig under so much pressure that they were forced into mistakes. At times you can’t blame the opposition because we were just so good. The size of the score is also deserved. It was a very good performance. We need this stability in the weeks ahead. We had almost 50 shots in the last two games, but there were also moments where we weren’t alert enough. We showed today what we can do. When the guys see that what we plan to do works, then you also see that joy on the pitch.”
Harry Kane: “That was a really good game. After the last two results, I think it was important to make a statement, and we did that from the first minute. I think we had enough chances in the last two games to score goals and win, but we didn’t get the results we wanted. There was more talk than usual, so it was important to keep cool heads and avoid mistakes. And we did that from start to finish, from front to back. It was excellent. When you score six goals against an opponent like that, you can be really proud.”

Joshua Kimmich: “The first 60 minutes were a very good performance. In the first half in particular, we could’ve scored even more goals. We then started the second half very well. The last 30 minutes were okay, but the first 60 were on another level. I’m really happy for Lucho. He really earned it. He obviously missed a few chances at the start of the season, but he produced such amazing numbers for us last season. He had an excellent game today and was definitely the man tonight. I’m so happy for him.”
Nathaniel Brown: “We played from the start and took our chances right away. That was a problem in the last few games, not taking our chances. That was different today. And when we get going, then it’s very difficult against us, especially at home. Obviously we were a bit annoyed after the last two games.”
Jonas Urbig: “The confidence we showed today in our own stadium – it was really fun. I think we scored the goals today that we’d lacked in the last two games. That ease of scoring was back again. We’re so happy for Lucho that he got three goals today. And also for Harry, who worked hard throughout and scored himself.”

Tom Bischof: “Our intention was to play a really good game at home today. That worked out very well. We scored lots of goals and just had fun. I’d say we were very close to our best level today. We could’ve even scored a few more goals because we created so many chances. After the two draws, we absolutely wanted to win the next game. We’ve done that. For me personally, it was a lot of fun. We produced a really good game.”
Reaction from RB Leipzig
Marcel Schäfer (managing director for sport): “We were inferior in every area today and had no chance. That’s not our aspiration. Obviously you can lose in Munich against Bayern, but we had such a bad day and Bayern had a good one. I think six goals even flattered us. That was a lesson for us. We saw what it means to play at the top or world-class level. There’s a lot of work ahead of us.”
Martín Demichelis (head coach): “When you come to Munich, you know the level of quality you’ll face. But we still wanted to do something different working against the ball. We didn’t manage that. In the end, you just have to congratulate the opponent.”
Willi Orban (defender): “I think the result says it all. We got nowhere near our limit and did very little of what we wanted to do. Bayern were very dominant and even had chances to score more goals. It was an awful game from us. At half-time, we focused on what we’d done badly and wanted to do better, but then we conceded the next goal with Bayern’s first attack after the restart. Towards the end, we did a bit better, but on the whole we did so many things wrong today.”
Nicolas Seiwald (midfielder): “We saw that we were inferior in all areas from the start. We need to come to terms with that quickly, because we go again on Wednesday and the opponents don’t get any easier. We know we did a lot wrong today, but it doesn’t help to tear yourselves apart. We need to learn from it and push on.”
