Magdeburg post-match reaction - Nathaniel Brown: 'We also win for our coach'
Wow! FC Bayern sent 1. FC Magdeburg packing with a 6-1 win in the second round of the DFB Cup. It was a cup night to savour, with a warm reception for our Ballon d’Or winner Harry Kane, a beautiful tifo from our supporters and an attacking spectacle on the pitch. The result: a place in the round of 16 for the Reds and a fresh wave of momentum for the top-of-the-table clash against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. “We want to win every match, regardless of the opponents. Today we wanted to progress – and now we concentrate on Saturday,” stated Nathaniel Brown, one of five different goalscorers on the night. fcbayern.com has rounded up the rest of the reaction for you.
Reaction to the match against Magdeburg

Aaron Danks, assistant coach: “It was a really positive night. It was difficult, obviously the final result is great, but it felt different for long spells. It was difficult to find the right press at moments. In the second half, we found our rhythm and that gave us the control. I’m really happy tonight but it wasn’t easy.”
Jonathan Tah: “I don’t think it’s ever easy. It’s often seen that way on the outside because we record big wins, but you have to work hard for it to look easy on the outside. The opponents were brave and tried to make things happen with the ball, but over time we got into our rhythm and the momentum swung our way. It doesn’t matter who’s on the pitch, who comes in: we stick together as a team and everyone’s prepared to deliver a performance. That starts in training.”

Nathaniel Brown: “Magdeburg did very well, it took us a bit of time to really get into the game. But once we get going, it’s huge fun, especially the second half. We want to win every match, regardless of the opponents. Today we wanted to progress – and now we concentrate on Saturday. We also win for our coach. He should be resting but I hope we see him again soon.”
Tom Bischof: “We knew they have quality and play good football. They tried to chase us all over the pitch. It’s not so easy but we expected that. It’s not easy against any opponents, but in the end it’s a highly deserved win for us. It’s just fun to play in front of the fans. They always support us, and it’s just awesome playing at the Allianz Arena for FC Bayern.”

Jonathan Tah: “I’m pleased it worked out, even though a few players and even our coach are absent at the moment. I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t affect us. We’re all human and of course you sympathise. But we have to deal with it in a professional manner and the best thing we can do for those who aren’t here right now is to produce what we produced on the pitch tonight. I’m happy that we’ve managed the last two games in the way we have.”
Reaction from Magdeburg:
Barış Artik (forward): “I think levelling at 2-2 before the break would’ve been extremely helpful. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be. Nevertheless, we showed some good football and didn’t hide. We played out from the back and wanted to show people in a stadium like this that we have a Magdeburg identity. Our fans are crazy. Anyone who travels to a game at 20:45 on a Wednesday with 13,000 fans deserves respect, and I’m proud to play for such a club.”
Alexander Nollenberger (defender): “What a machine. Up until half-time we’d kept it interesting. At 2-1 we were still within touching distance. With the penalty and the 3-1 lead it was game over. They just never stop. You can clear everything but we were aware of how difficult that would be today. It was still fun, even though the final score isn’t tight. That can happen against Bayern, though.”
