FC Bayern Women visit Eintracht Frankfurt for big game at the top

FC Bayern Women return to action following the international break with a crucial fixture at the top of the Google Pixel Bundesliga away at Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday. Kick-off at the Stadion am Brentanobad is at 17:00 CET. Here’s all you need to know ahead of the Matchday 12 fixture in our preview.

Bayern went into the international break in excellent form on the back of 10 straight wins across three competitions. The last Bundesliga fixture brought a 5-1 victory at Hoffenheim thanks to a Momoko Tanikawa brace and further goals from Georgia Stanway, Alara and Arianna Caruso.

José Barcala’s side have also picked up vital points in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, most recently coming from a goal down to win 3-1 at Paris Saint-German thanks to goals from Linda Dallmann, Tanikawa and und Jovana Damnjanović.

Opponent: Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht are on an eight-game unbeaten run in all competitions, most recently claiming a 3-2 win over Wolfsburg to sit fourth in the Bundesliga. They have also progressed in the Women’s Europa Cup, beating PSV Eindhoven in both legs of their round of 16 tie, and in the DFB Cup after a thrilling 6-4 win over Hoffenheim. Frankfurt’s last competitive defeat came at Freiburg on Matchday 6 (3-2).

Bayern are unbeaten in their last seven Bundesliga meetings with Frankfurt, winning four. Eintracht’s last victory in this fixture came in October 2021. The Munich Frauen also won the most recent DFB Cup encounter 4-1 in extra-time in last season’s quarter-finals.
