FC Bayern Women have winning record in sight for Bavarian derby against Nürnberg

After over a month without a home game, FC Bayern Women finally return to the Campus on Saturday as they host Nürnberg in a Bavarian derby for Matchday 22 in the Google Pixel Bundesliga. Kick-off is at 14:00 CET. Here’s all you need to know ahead of the game in our preview.

Latest news from Bayern

José Barcala’s side returned to Munich during the week boosted by their 3-2 win away at Manchester United in the first leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final tie. Pernille Harder netted twice at Old Trafford, before Momoko Tanikawa’s 84th-minute winner after the Red Devils had twice equalised.

Bayern were also victorious in their most recent Bundesliga outing, winning 5-0 away at Essen thanks to goals from Harder (another brace), Linda Dallmann, Natalia Padilla Bidas and Edna Imade.

Opponent: Nürnberg

Nürnberg’s recent form is less impressive, losing their most recent outing against Köln 2-1 last Sunday despite Nastassja Lein’s late consolation. Thomas Oostendorp’s side lost again by the same scoreline against Freiburg the previous week. They come into the weekend in 11th place on 19 points.

Bayern boast an impressive record in this fixture, winning 46 of the last 47 Bundesliga meetings with Nürnberg. The season’s first meeting was a 6-0 victory for the Munich Frauen in Nuremberg – their biggest win of 2025/26. Three more points on Saturday would also see Bayern equal their club record of 18 consecutive home wins in the Bundesliga.

Team news

Coach Barcala remains without Sarah Zadrazil and Lena Oberdorf as they recover from their cruciate ligament injuries. Alara Şehitler (partial ACL tear), Klara Bühl (muscular), Jovana Damnjanović (workload) and Katharina Naschenweng (knee) are also still unavailable, while Anna Klink is also set to miss the next few weeks with a minor muscle tear.

Pre-match quotes

José Barcala: “We’re expecting a team in Nürnberg that defends very compactly and is dangerous particularly on the counter. We need good positional play, close gaps and to be solid in both our defensive transitional movement and our covering. We want a good game against them to prepare as best we can for the Champions League second leg against Manchester United on Wednesday.”

Stine Ballisager“We’ll face a very well-organised opponent in Nürnberg who are compact in defence and will give their all to make life as difficult as possible for us. We performed very well in the first meeting but know that Saturday’s game can take on a whole different character. After a run of away games, we’re happy to finally be back at the Campus with our fans behind us.”

The club’s OBACHT concept will come into force at the Campus for this game:
