A stellar performance in the penultimate pre-season friendly! FC Bayern Women celebrated a convincing 4-1 (3-1) victory over Real Madrid on Thursday afternoon. Georgia Stanway opened the scoring with a penalty in the seventh minute. Just one minute later, Linda Dallmann doubled the lead. Momoko Tanikawa then added a third with 32 minutes on the clock before Naomie Feller pulled one back for the visitors in the 37th minute. In the second half, Natalia Padilla-Bidas (67') got her maiden goal for FCB Women to wrap up a 4-1 win.
Ahead of kick-off, director of women's football Bianca Rech congratulated Georgia Stanway on winning the European Championship in Switzerland. The 26-year-old England midfielder successfully defended the title the Lionesses won in 2022, with Stanway and England beating the reigning world champions from Spain on penalties in the final.

Barcala: “We’re on the right track“
"It was a very good test against strong opponents, said head coach José Barcala. Today, we had the opportunity to implement many of the elements we've been practising over the past few weeks. I'm very happy because we've taken another step forward. The players who came on in the 65th minute implemented the game plan perfectly. We knew Real Madrid would start pressing us early on - and we were well prepared for that. This game gives us confidence and confirms that we're on the right track. For me personally, it was a special moment to stand on the touchline in this stadium for the first time today. The fans were terrific, the atmosphere was fantastic."
Caruso: "Happy with our performance"
"We were well prepared for the game and are happy with our performance, said Arianna Caruso. The two early goals obviously did us good. As a team, we're playing well together, but we still have a few things we want to work on."

Convincing first half
FC Bayern Women wore black armbands for the match in memory of Ilka Schroth, sponsoring manager and key contact at main sponsors Allianz, who recently passed away.
The Munich ladies made the better start to the match and were rewarded early on. Tanikawa played a through ball to Lea Schüller, who was brought down in the penalty area. Stanway stepped up to the spot and fired the ball into the left corner (7'). Straight after the restart, it was Tanikawa who again beat several defenders with a dribbling run. In the six-yard box, she laid the ball back to Dallmann, who made it 2-0 from ten metres out (8'). In the 32nd minute, the Japan international was finally rewarded with a goal of her own. Following a pass from Sarah Zadrazil, she finished into the far corner from the edge of the penalty area to make it 3-0. The visitors got their first chance to score on 37 minutes after winning possession in Bayern's half. Feller finished spectacularly from 20 metres out to make it 3-1 at the break.

Padilla-Bidas with maiden goal in a Bayern shirt
While the visitors from the Spanish capital made five changes at the break, the German champions started the second half with the same line-up. Stanway ended a quiet opening period with a shot from the centre of the penalty area (56'). Just two minutes later, Schüller narrowly went wide with a shot from distance. In the 62nd minute, it was once again Bayern's European champion who posed a threat: Franziska Kett fed Stanway, who couldn't beat Misa from distance. Two minutes after the Munich side had rung in the changes with eight substitutions, the newly-arrived Padilla-Bidas made it 4-1. Lena Oberdorf won possession on the edge of the visitors' penalty area and laid the ball off to the Poland international, who confidently made it 4-1, which was how the game ended.

Final friendly against Lyon
The double winners have a dress rehearsal before the Supercup against VfL Wolfsburg (30 August) on Tuesday, 26 August, against French champions Lyon. The game at adidas HomeGround in Herzogenaurach kicks off at 15:00 CEST and will be played behind closed doors. It will, however, be broadcast live on FC Bayern TV PLUS.
