FC Bayern Women face Real Madrid for first time in friendly

FC Bayern Women round off their training camp in Tyrol with their third friendly match of pre-season as they host Real Madrid on Thursday. Kick-off at the FC Bayern Campus is at 4pm CEST. Here’s all you need to know ahead of the game.

Latest news from Bayern

After a behind-closed-doors game against Newcastle United, José Barcala’s team played out a 2-2 draw with Zürich in Friedrichshafen last week. The squad then headed to Austria for their short training camp as they prepare for the new season and also get to know each other better under the new coaching staff. Freshly re-crowned European champion Georgia Stanway and her team now face Real Madrid as they gear up to open the 2025/26 campaign against Wolfsburg in the Supercup next weekend.

Bayern will also face Borussia Dortmund in the first round of the DFB Cup:

This will also be Real’s third friendly of pre-season. New coach Pau Quesada started with a 3-1 win over Madrid CFF before a victory by the same scoreline against Union Berlin. Las Blancas finished runners-up in Spain last season behind Barcelona and also reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

This will be the first time that Bayern and Real Madrid meet in women’s football.

Pre-match quotes

José Barcala: “The last few training sessions have mostly been about growing closer together as a team. We’ve finetuned our patterns of play, gone through various match situations and worked hard on our coordination. Now we want to show all that in this friendly against Real Madrid.”
