A real highlight awaits FC Bayern at the start of the Audi Summer Tour: Head coach Thomas Tuchel's team face reigning Champions League winners Manchester City in their second pre-season friendly on Wednesday at 12:30 CEST (19:30 local time). Following the 12-hour flight and the press conference with Tuchel and Joshua Kimmich, the German champions went straight into intensive preparations for the Audi Football Summit against the Cityzens during their first training session at the National Stadium in Tokyo on Tuesday.

Kimmich: "City are the best team in Europe at the moment"
"It was relatively quiet on the plane, everyone tried to use the time to sleep and be ready to go for it here straight away. I'm ready to push on," leader Kimmich reported on the start of the trip and, looking ahead to the match against Pep Guardiola's Sky Blues, said: "I'm looking forward to the game. City are the best team in Europe at the moment. We'll be able to measure exactly where we stand. Of course, it's a friendly being played under special conditions, but both teams will want to win. It's always very interesting to play against a team like them."

The German record champions already met the English side during the Audi Summer Tour 2022, with the Cityzens winning the match 1-0 in Green Bay on that occasion thanks to a goal from Erling Haaland. In the Champions League quarter-final in the spring, the subsequent treble winners also got the better of the Bavarians after a 3-0 win in the first leg and a 1-1 draw in the second leg in Munich. Now comes a rematch of the thriller and a reunion with ex-Bayern coach Guardiola in Tokyo. "It's always best to play against teams like Bayern in pre-season," said the 52-year-old Spaniard at the pre-match press conference. "We'll then see where we stand, because we have the Community Shield coming up. It's a really important game."

The squad received an enthusiastic welcome when they touched down in Tokyo:
