Sabitzer vs. Stanisic; Upamecano and Pavard start

It was a mixed bag of results for the Bayern players in action with their countries on Sunday. Josip Stanisic and Croatia assured their place in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals thanks to a 3-1 win over Marcel Sabitzer’s Austria, while Dayot Upamecano and Benjamin Pavard were beaten 2-0 with France in Denmark. Matthijs de Ligt and Ryan Gravenberch, however, also booked their place in the semi-finals as the Netherlands edged Belgium 1-0. Paul Wanner’s Germany U18s lost their final game of their youth tournament in the Czech Republic 1-0 to Mexico, with the Bayern youngster not featuring.

Nations League Group A1: Stanisic wins against Sabitzer

There was an all-Bayern encounter in Croatia’s Group A1 meeting with Austria as Stanisic and Sabitzer battled it out down the flank. Both played the full 90 minutes as Luka Modric, Marko Livaja and Dejan Lovren earned Zlatko Dalic’s side the victory. Christoph Baumgartner got the visitors‘ goal in Zagreb. It means Croatia top the group, while Austria are relegated to League B.
