Manuel Neuer was able to join in with parts of team training again on Thursday afternoon. “It’s a great feeling to be back on the pitch with my teammates. I was very much looking forward to it,” said Neuer afterwards.
Bayern’s number one warmed up with goalkeeping coach Michael Rechner as well as colleagues Sven Ulreich and Daniel Peretz, before going in goal for some drills with the outfield players. Following a lower leg fracture last winter, Neuer underwent a planned metal removal on his right fibula at the beginning of August. Since then, the 37-year-old had just been doing goalkeeper-specific training.
Kim, Upamecano & Müller back in training
Minjae Kim, Dayot Upamecano and Thomas Müller, who all sat out Tuesday’s DFB Cup match in Münster due to injuries, also returned to full training on Thursday. Matthijs de Ligt, who took a knock to the knee in the Bundesliga game against Bochum, and Serge Gnabry (forearm fracture) were absent from the session. This Saturday, FC Bayern visit RB Leipzig in a crunch Bundesliga clash.
