23 impressive stats and records set by FC Bayern in 2023

As 2023 draws to a close, we take a look back at 365 days of special FC Bayern stats and records. Read here about the best achievements and impressive figures recorded by the German record champions in 2023:

1. FC Bayern – serial champions

Incredible, but true: in the 2022/23 season, FCB claimed the Meisterschale for the 11th consecutive time. Since 2013, there's been just one name engraved on the trophy - Bayern Munich. No other team in Europe's top five leagues has achieved a run like it - Juventus have come closest with nine consecutive Serie A championships.

2. A scoring spree in the Bundesliga

FC Bayern not only scored in every Bundesliga game in 2023, but with registering at least one goal in 42 consecutive Bundesliga games, they currently have by far the longest run of any team in the top flight. The last time the men from Munich failed to score in the league was on Matchday 7 of last season at Augsburg.

3. One goal short of the record

Just like last season, Bayern scored 49 goals in their first 15 Bundesliga matches in 2023/24 - a record only they themselves have beaten in Bundesliga history. In 1976/77, they'd scored 50 goals by the same point in the campaign.

4. Home record equalled

FC Bayern have scored in every one of their last 64 Bundesliga home games, thereby equalling the Bundesliga record - only Bayern themselves had previously managed such a long run of scoring at home from 1970 to 1974.

5. FCB head and shoulders above the rest

Thomas Tuchel's side have already scored with 11 headers in the league - making the Reds the leaders in this category and giving them two more headed goals than in the entire previous season (nine). Harry Kane has scored just under half of all headed goals, making him the leader in the current campaign.

6. Goal fest vs. Darmstadt

In the 8-0 rout of SV Darmstadt 98 at the end of October, FC Bayern celebrated their biggest win of the year and scored eight goals in the second half of a Bundesliga match for the first time in the club's history.

7. Milestone in the Bundesliga

In the last home game of the year against VfB Stuttgart (3-0), FC Bayern became the first team in Bundesliga history to break the 1,200-win barrier. This was followed just three days later by victory number 1,201 against Wolfsburg in what was their 1,991st Bundesliga match.

8. Unrivalled in the Champions League group stage

FC Bayern have extended their record in the group stage of Europe's premier club competition and are unbeaten in 40 matches (36 wins, four draws). FCB's last defeat in a group stage match was the 3-0 loss at Paris Saint-Germain six years ago (September 2017).

9. Winning streak in the group stage

Up until the 0-0 draw against Copenhagen on Matchday 5, FC Bayern had won an incredible 17 consecutive games in the UCL group stage, setting a new record in Europe's premier club competition.

10. Champions League away record

FC Bayern have extended another two records in the Champions League group stage: they're unbeaten away from home in 20 matches (18 wins, two draws) and have won their last nine games on the road.

11. Back among the best in Europe

FC Bayern qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League for the 20th time this season, a feat bettered only by Real Madrid (21 times).

12. Into three figures at the Arena

The 0-0 draw against Copenhagen at the end of November was Bayern's 100th appearance in a European tie at the Allianz Arena. With 73 wins, 15 draws and just 12 defeats, it's certainly an impressive record.

13. Traditionally strong start in Europe

A new campaign, and the next perfect start! Thanks to the 4-3 win over Manchester United in the Champions League opener, Bayern have now won their first game of the season in Europe's premier club competition for the 20th time - and they've done it with a goal difference of 51:5, a record in the competition!

14. Record winners Müller and Neuer in lockstep

In the 3-0 win against Freiburg in October, Thomas Müller drew level with teammate Manuel Neuer, who had previously been the player with the most Bundesliga wins. Since then, the two have been neck-and-neck and, at the end of the year, each had 328 wins in 455 (Müller) and 485 (Neuer) appearances in the German top flight.

15. Ever-present Sané and Laimer

Konrad Laimer and Leroy Sané have played the most competitive matches for FC Bayern in the 2023/24 season so far (both 24). Sané also played the most minutes of all players (1,914), followed by Minjae Kim with 1,903.

16. Kane surpasses everyone

Kane registered his 26th direct goal contribution of the Bundesliga term (21 goals, five assists) when he made it 2-0 against Wolfsburg and in doing so already equalled the tally set by Randal Kolo Muani last season. The England captain had already overtaken that campaign's joint top scorers Niclas Füllkrug and Christopher Nkunku, (both on 16 goals), after just 11 matchdays.

Harry Kane scored in Wolfsburg with a powerful shot from distance to put the Reds 2-0 up.

17. Kane replaces Haaland

The 21 goals scored by Bayern's number nine after just 15 league appearances broke the record previously held by Erling Haaland, when he got his 21st goal on his 22nd appearance.

18. Musiala's milestone

In the 2-1 win against Wolfsburg on 20 December, Jamal Musiala, aged 20 years and 297 days, became the youngest Bayern player to hit the 100 Bundesliga appearances mark and the fourth youngest overall after Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Julian Draxler.

19. Müller always scores

At the end of October, Thomas Müller became the first player in the history of FC Bayern to score at least one goal in 15 Bundesliga seasons - overtaking Gerd Müller, Klaus Augenthaler and Mehmet Scholl (14 seasons with at least one goal).

20. Sané, king of the dribblers

In the current Bundesliga season, no other player has completed as many successful dribbles as Sané (63). The winger has also set up the most attempts on goal (49).

Leroy Sane takes on two opponents in the game against Stuttgart.
Leroy Sané enjoyed taking on several opponents at a time this season, and not just in the clash against Stuttgart.

21. Upamecano superb in one-on-one tussles

Dayot Upamecano has won 63.1 per cent of his 130 challenges in competitive matches this season, giving him the best tackle completion rate of any Bayern outfield player who's played at least 250 minutes.

22. Müller the winner - again

That man Müller won his 100th Champions League game at the end of September, becoming the third player to celebrate hitting three figures in Europe's premier club competition after Cristiano Ronaldo (115) and Iker Casillas (101).

23. Kane's hat-tricks

Kane is only the fourth player in Bundesliga history to score three hat-tricks in his maiden season - a feat only previously achieved by Uwe Seeler, Klaus Matischak (both 1963/64) and Siegfried Bronnert in 1966/67. The Englishman scored one of them in the 4-0 win at Borussia Dortmund at the beginning of November, making him the first player to score three goals on his Klassiker debut.
