Will FCB stop FCA's run? The facts ahead of FC Augsburg vs. FC Bayern

After nearest rivals Bayer 04 Leverkusen temporarily made up ground in the title race last weekend by playing first, this week it's the leaders from Munich who will kick off Matchday 28 at FC Augsburg on Friday evening (20:30 CEST) and be aiming to put pressure on the Werkself. That should be a good omen for all FC Bayern supporters: Vincent Kompany‘s side have won all five Friday matches across all competitions so far this season (four in the Bundesliga, one in the cup) and are undefeated on this day of the week in over two and a half years or 13 games (ten wins, 13 draws). Read on to find out about the other important facts and stats relating to the Bavarian clash:

The most recent clash with FC Augsburg also took place on a Friday evening - and Bayern won 3-0 thanks to a hat-trick from Harry Kane. The England captain took his goal haul against the North Bavarians to six in three games, meaning he's scored against them more often than any other club in the German top flight. It's not least because of Kane that the men from Munich extended their run of competitive wins against FCA to five in a row.

The overall record also clearly favours the record champions, who have won 26 of their 32 competitive matches against Augsburg (two draws, four defeats). Even on the road, the stats are conclusive: the Reds have come away victorious in nine of the 13 Bundesliga matches played at FC Augsburg, meaning they have a higher win rate against FCA in this competition than any other club they've played at least ten times (69 per cent).

Will FCB stop FCA's run?

However, Augsburg go into the home game against FC Bayern brimming with confidence. The North Bavarians have not lost in the league since a 1-0 defeat at VfB Stuttgart in mid-January. They've now gone 11 games without defeat - a club record in this competition. The cornerstone of this success is the FCA defence, which has only conceded three goals in that period. It now remains to be seen whether Augsburg's run will continue against the league leaders.

Bayern also number 1 in the Rückrunde

Following last weekend's home win against St. Pauli (3-2), FC Bayern have already picked up 23 points in the Rückrunde, which puts them firmly at the top of the table for the second half of the season. They're followed by Bayer 04 Leverkusen (21) and FC Augsburg, who have not only set a club record with 20 points after ten matchdays in the Rückrunde, but have already surpassed their haul from the first half of the season (19).

Sané and Olise excelling

The Bayern wingers Leroy Sané and Michael Olise excelled once again on the last matchday. In the home win against FC St. Pauli, Sané bagged his fourth brace in the Bundesliga, having last done so in mid-January at home to Hoffenheim. The 29-year-old has already set a new personal best with nine goals this season. The Germany international has also racked up nine goal contributions in 12 appearances in 2025 alone (six goals and three assists), a stat only bettered by teammate Harry Kane (ten) in the league.

Olise, on the other hand, shone with two assists against St. Pauli and, with nine direct assists, now only has Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz (ten) ahead of him in the league-wide assist rankings. The Frenchman has also set up 23 major chances for his teammates in this Bundesliga season - by far the highest figure in the competition.
