The rain pelted down from the Munich sky on Tuesday morning, but the unpleasant conditions didn’t stop swathes of FC Bayern fans coming to Säbener Straße as head coach Vincent Kompany’s men completed an open training session in the morning. And for the supporters of the German record champions who turned up despite the adverse conditions, it was worth the effort.
Before the team headed out onto the grass, Manuel Neuer was already doing individual running. The FCB captain, who’s currently coming back from a calf strain, was greeted by loud applause from the fans. Along with the injured Neuer, Aleksandar Pavlović, Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, Hiroki Ito and Tarek Buchmann, Minjae Kim, Leon Goretzka, Sven Ulreich and Kingsley Coman also sat out team training to manage their workload.

Kompany put his players through their paces for over 100 minutes in an intensive session. After the warm-up and some passing exercises, tactical drills were on the agenda. The group were in good spirits as they delighted the spectators with some fine pieces of play. Afterwards, Joshua Kimmich, Harry Kane and Co fulfilled the many requests for autographs and selfies from their fans.
Bayern visit FC Augsburg this Friday on Bundesliga Matchday 28, where they’ll be hoping to cement their six-point lead at the top of the table. That’s followed by the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Inter Milan on Tuesday 8 April.
