History beckons for Luis Díaz against Hoffenheim

There’s the potential for a number of records to be broken when Bayern visit Hoffenheim’s PreZero Arena on Saturday. Vincent Kompany’s men have made a perfect star to the season, and the numbers are also promising going into this next game. Here’s the key stats and facts ahead of the second away game of the Bundesliga season.

Bayern in record form

Last season’s meetings with Hoffenheim were a one-sided affair, with Bayern’s aggregate 9-0 win over the two fixtures their best result against any team in 2024/25. For Hoffenheim, it was their worst record against an opponent within a season in the top flight.

Bayern are also off to a flawless start this term, winning all three of their opening Bundesliga fixtures for the fourth year in a row. No club has ever done that before in the German top flight. Plus there’s the team’s scintillating attack, scoring 14 goals over those three games. Only the Bavarians themselves have ever had more at this early stage of a Bundesliga season (15 in 2022/23).

Good away form

Bayern haven’t lost an away game in the Bundesliga since December 2024’s defeat in Mainz (W7, D3), which is the team’s best run since the Hansi Flick era in 2019/20. They last managed a longer undefeated streak on the road between 2015 and 2016 (14 games). FCB have also netted at least three goals in each of the last five Bundesliga away fixtures, which is a league record.

That run puts Bayern in an exclusive club of teams yet to lose an away league match in 2025, alongside Bayer Leverkusen and Barcelona in Europe’s top five leagues.

Díaz with record in sight

Bayern’s attackers are also rewriting the record books right now. New signing Luis Díaz has become a guarantee for goals, netting in each of his first three Bundesliga games for the club – a feat only previously achieved by Ruggiero Rizzitelli in 1996, Luca Toni in 2007 and Mario Mandžukić in 2012. But none of them were able to make it four in a row…

Kane on the hunt, Neuer closing on Kahn

And then there’s Harry Kane, who already boasts five goals and three assists from three Bundesliga matches. Never before since data collection began in 2004/05 has a player contributed eight goals this early in the campaign in Germany’s top flight. Across multiple seasons, the England captain has been directly involved in at least two goals in each of the last four league fixtures, which is a streak he never managed in the Premier League. History also beckons again for him in Sinsheim. Kane has scored in all three Bundesliga appearances against Hoffenheim. He’s not yet managed to score in four consecutive games against an opponent in Germany.

Manuel Neuer will also come up against a familiar face in Oliver Baumann as they prepare to meet for the 26th time in the Bundesliga. The only goalkeeping duo to play against each other more times is Eike Immel and Uli Stein (27). Neuer (526) and Baumann (492) sit third and fifth respectively in the list for Bundesliga appearances by goalkeepers. That list is led by Oliver Kahn with 557 games in Germany’s top division.

Hoffenheim looking for home comforts

While Bayern are out to continue their perfect start, Hoffenheim are looking for some consistency. They may have won two of their opening three games, but results at home have been less pleasing, winning just one of their last 12 there (D5, L6). The most recent three have all been defeats. A fourth now would equal their club record, last set in autumn 2022.

The defence has also been an issue, with 46 goals conceded the most of any team in 2025. Bayern, by contrast, have let in just 21, which is the fewest of any team (excluding promoted sides) in the division. FCB have kept 11 clean sheets this calendar year, which is also the best return. Hoffenheim come bottom in that regard with only two (excluding promoted and relegated teams).

Despite those numbers, Hoffenheim have produced impressive performances and results away at Leverkusen and Union Berlin. Bayern will have to pay particular attention to young striker Fisnik Asllani (four goals and two assists in four competitive games), Tim Lemperle (two goals, one assist), Bazoumana Touré (two assists) and old nemesis Andrej Kramarić (one goal, one assist).
