Only Bundesliga defeat of 2026/27

Facts: Bayern with score to settle against Augsburg

FC Bayern take an impressive record into their trip to FC Augsburg: in the last 47 Bundesliga meetings between the two sides, the men from Munich have suffered one solitary defeat. That came in January, no less, with the 2-1 reverse at home to FCA – now the German record champions have the chance to finally avenge that at the WWK Arena on Saturday (15:30 CEST).

Bayern’s record in Augsburg is clearly in their favour. The Reds have recorded 11 wins and one draw in their last 15 Bundesliga away matches against FCA. The win rate of 73 percent is the highest that Bayern have against a club who they’ve visited at least 10 times. And overall, the German record champions are unbeaten in 28 league games on the road. Only once in the club’s history have they achieved a longer run: Bayern went 33 consecutive away matches without defeat between 2012 and 2014.

Olise’s long-range shooting in focus

FCB also travel to their Bavarian neighbours with tremendous attacking quality. Vincent Kompany’s men boast the deadliest attack in the league with 14 goals after four matchdays. Seven of them were scored in the recent 7-0 thrashing of Union Berlin, which was also the joint-biggest win in the Bundesliga under Kompany – equal with the 8-1 success against VfL Wolfsburg in January.

One man who’s particularly in the spotlight is Michael Olise: the Frenchman netted his first Bundesliga hat-trick against Union to take his tally to four goals in the Bundesliga already this season. What’s more, since his move to Germany in summer 2024, no player has found the net more times from distance than Olise – ten of his strikes have come from outside the area. The winger was also involved in at least one goal in all four games for France during the international break, scoring a brace inside four minutes in the 4-1 win over Belgium on Monday night.

More facts on Augsburg clash

100 Bundesliga goals in 98 games – Harry Kane netted his 100th and 101st goal in the German top flight against Union Berlin and broke a record in the process, becoming the fastest player to reach 100 goals in the Bundesliga. His next goal will draw him level with Dieter Hoeneß and move him up to sixth place in the list of FC Bayern’s all-time Bundesliga goalscorers.

Seven Kane goals – Kane netted seven times in his first four Bundesliga encounters with Augsburg. However, the England captain didn’t get on the scoresheet in either match last season – he didn’t spend as much time on the pitch without scoring against any other opponent in 2025/26.

Bayern dominate top long-range shooters – Sticking with Kane, the striker is second behind Olise for long-range goals since the start of the 2024/25 campaign with nine. Third place is occupied by another Bayern player in Tom Bischof, who’s scored from distance seven times in this period.

14 home games, just one defeat – Augsburg have only lost one of their last 14 Bundesliga matches at home, a 5-2 loss against VfB Stuttgart in March. For Bayern it’s about confronting a team who are strong at home with their own strength on the road.

11 FCA goals – The hosts have made their most prolific start to a Bundesliga season in the attacking department with 11 goals from the first four games. That puts them third in the league behind Bayern and Freiburg.

Bayern yet to be behind –Kompany’s men have not been losing at any point so far in this Bundesliga campaign. The only other club in Europe’s top five leagues who have managed that is Paris FC.

Possession kings –The Munich men boast the highest average possession in the Bundesliga with 71.4 percent. Augsburg, in contrast, have averaged 39.3 percent.

Gregoritsch yet to score against Bayern – Michael Gregoritsch has come up against Bayern 14 times in the league and never scored. The forward has only collected two points from those games.
