Die internationale Gruppe von Kinder- und Jugendmannschaften, die sich im März zum "Rot-gegen-Rassismus"-Turnier zusammengefunden hatte, hat Zuwachs bekommen!
Zum ersten Mal nahm heute die Mannschaft der Essex Junior Chess Association an einem Online-Turnier teil, das im Rahmen der in diesem Jahr ins Leben gerufenen Initiative stattfand. Und das mit großem Erfolg! In einem 90-minütigen Arena-Turnier auf lichess.org setzten sich die Kinder und Jugendlichen aus der nordöstlich von London gelegenen Grafschaft Essex souverän vor den "Werderwarriors" aus Bremen durch. Letztere lieferten sich lange ein spannendes Duell um den 2. Platz, auf dem zwischenzeitlich die FC Bayern Schach Kids lagen.
Vervollständigt wurde das Feld vom Team aus Suffolk, das diesmal zahlemnäßig nicht so stark vertreten war, aber auch einige starke Einzelspieler in seinen Reihen hatte, allen voran "Rafandros", der es auf 26 Punkte brachte. Übertroffen wurde er nur von "Punktus Knacktus" (Werderwarriors) mit satten 32 Punkten und "RelaxedHound" (Essex Junior) mit ebenfalls 26 Punkten. "Giraffe22" war die erfolgreichste Teilnehmerin der FC Bayern München Schach Kids und erzielte mit ihren 22 Punkten ebenfalls noch ein Top 10 Ergebnis unter den insgesamt 69 Teilnehmern.
Aber ganz egal wie wer abgeschnitten hat, Hauptsache es hat allen Spaß gemacht und diesen Eindruck hatte man auf jeden Fall in der Zoom-Konferenz, die wie üblich parallel zum Turnier lief. Glückwunsch zum Turniersieg an die Mannschaft aus Essex und nochmals herzlich willkommen "im Club"!

The international group of clubs and organisations which participated in the "Reds against Racism" tournament in March enjoys a spectacular addition from the UK!
For the first time the Essex Junior Chess Association took part in a tournament organised as part of the international initiative established earlier this year. And what a great start into their new international activities this was! In a 90 minute lichess arena tournament the Essex team quickly took the lead and went on to win by a huge margin. "Green" (Werder Bremen) and "Red" (Bayern Munich) competed for the second place, and while the "FC Bayern München Schach Kids" initially had an advantage, the "Werderwarriors" eventually finished quite easily ahead of their friends from Munich.
The Suffolk Junior Chess team finished in 4th place. While they did not have that many players available this time, some of them scored pretty well, in particular "Rafandros", who contributed 26 points to the Suffolk team score. He ended up in third place among the 69 participating kids, only behind "Punktus Knacktus" (Werderwarriors) who scored an impressive 32 points, and "RelaxedHound" (Essex Junior) with 26 points. "Giraffe22" was the most successful FC Bayern Chess Kid. Her 22 points earned her a top 10 finish as well.
But irrespective of any tournament results, most important was that all kids had fun while making new friends on the international stage. And this was clearly visible in the Zoom session supplementing the lichess tournament. So once again many congratulations to the Essex team and "Welcome to the club!"
