Final spurt! After intensive training sessions over the past few weeks, FC Bayern's pre-season preparations are drawing to a close. Just three days after their trip to Tottenham Hotspur (3-2) in London, Bayern already have their next match lined up on Tuesday. The German record champions take on WSG Tirol in a friendly at Sportpark Unterhaching at 18:00 CEST.

The situation for Bayern
The friendlies against FC Rottach-Egern (14-1), 1 FC Düren (1-1) and Tottenham Hotspur (2-1 and 3-2) produced very creditable results for the Munich side. Results aside, which as we all know play a rather secondary role in pre-season preparations, Vincent Kompany's team also put in some decent performances. The new head coach's approach of disrupting the opposition's build-up play early on, working aggressively against the ball and getting forward boldly has not only impressed the players, but has also gone down well with the German record champions' fans.
The friendly against WSG Tirol provides an opportunity to further hone and internalise the new system. "It wasn't perfect, but we're doing our best and trying to adapt to each other better and better, to implement the coach's ideas better and better," said Eric Dier after the game at Spurs. Kompany gave an insight into where his team currently stands: "In terms of mentality, we're very good. Physically, technically and tactically we're getting there, but we need every game." Bayern play their first competitive match of the new season this week: on Friday, they travel to SSV Ulm for the first round of the DFB Cup.
After the friendly in London, Bayern returned to Säbener Straße for training on Monday:
The opponents WSG Tirol
While Bayern kick off the new Bundesliga campaign nine days after this Friday's cup opener, the Austrian season is already underway. FCB's upcoming opponents are still unbeaten after two games against SCR Altach (2-1) and Grazer AK (0-0). The Tyroleans were without a win in four friendlies during their pre-season, including a 2-2 draw with German Bundesliga 2 side Greuther Fürth. They'll be looking to sharpen up for next Sunday's top-of-the-table clash with Rapid Vienna, with whom they're currently tied in second place.
