FCB players called up by national teams

After Bayern face Frankfurt on Sunday, many Bayern players will leave to play for their respective national teams. fcbayern.com takes a brief look at who's going where.

Germany: Neuer, Süle, Kimmich, Gnabry, Goretzka, Sané, Müller & Musiala

Serge Gnabry scored the winner and only goal in his last national team game, versus Iceland.

Germany will contest their next two 2022 World Cup qualifiers led by a strong Bayern contingent. With Manuel Neuer, Niklas Süle, Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, Leon Goretzka, Leroy Sané, Thomas Müller and Jamal Musiala all in the selected squad, no fewer than eight FCB players have been called up for the matches against Romania (8 October in Hamburg) and in northern Macedonia (11 October in Skopje).

France: Upamecano, Pavard, Hernández

For three Bayern defenders Dayot Upamecano, Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernández, it's all eyes on winning the Nations League title with the French national team. On 7 October, L'Équipe meet Belgium in the semi-finals in Turin. The final or third-place match will then take place on 10 October.

Poland: Lewandowski

In the last set of qualifiers, Poland beat San Marino and Albania before picking up a point against England.

World player of the year Robert Lewandowski and his Polish team have two World Cup qualifying matches ahead of them this October. On Saturday, 9 October, the Poles host San Marino in Warsaw. Three days later, on 12 October, Lewy and his Polish teammates travel to the Albanian capital Tirana.

Austria: Marcel Sabitzer

At this summer's European Championships, Sabitzer and the Austrian national team were beaten in the last 16 by eventual champions Italy.

After being forced to withdraw due to injury last international break, Bayern's new boy Marcel Sabitzer is back in the Austrian squad. The team's first World Cup qualifier this break is away in the Faroe Islands (Tórshavn) on Saturday, 9 October. On Tuesday, 12 October, Sabitzer and his teammates face Denmark in Copenhagen.

Croatia: Josip Stanišić

Josip Stanišić has been called up to the Croatian senior national team for the first time. The 21-year-old defender will first be in the squad to face Cyprus in the World Cup qualifiers on 8 October in Larnaca. On Monday, 11 October, Croatia will host Slovakia in Osijek.

Canada: Alphonso Davies

Three games into the World Cup qualifying final round, and Alphonso Davies' Canada are second in the group with five points.

Three games in the World Cup qualifiers are in store for the Canadian national team and Alphonso Davies. On Friday night, 8 October, Canada face Mexico in the legendary Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. Three days later, Canada travel to play Jamaica (Kingston). Finally, on Thursday night, 14 October, the Canadians play Panama in Toronto.

Cameroon: Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting

Bayern striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has been picked for the Cameroon national team's upcoming World Cup qualifiers. The Indomitable Lions will play a double-header against Mozambique on 8 and 11 October.

Senegal: Bouna Sarr

Bouna Sarr is in the squad for the Senegalese national team.

FCB defender Bouna Sarr has been called up to the Senegal national team for the first time. National team head coach Aliou Cissé has picked Sarr for two World Cup qualifiers, both against Namibia, with the games to be played on 9 and 12 October.

Germany U21: Malik Tillman

In September, Malik Tillman was on duty for the German U20s. Now he's been called up for the U21s.

Malik Tillman is in the German U21 squad for the first time. The attacker was called up by new coach Antonio Di Salvo for the home game in the European Championship qualifiers against Israel on 7 October (Paderborn) and the away match in Hungary five days later (Szeged).
