Harry Kane (Men’s Player of the Year), Vincent Kompany (Coach of the Year) and Giulia Gwinn (Women’s Player of the Year) were presented with their awards as the best in Germany at the Allianz Arena ahead of the opening Bundesliga game of the season against VfB Stuttgart on Friday night. It’s the first time in the history of the award by magazine kicker that all three categories have been won by a single club – FC Bayern.
President Herbert Hainer, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, board member for sport Max Eberl, sporting director Christoph Freund, FC Bayern Women director Bianca Rech and kicker editor-in-chief Tobias Goldbrunner handed over the coveted trophies to their winners ahead of kick-off. Those excellent results were complemented by other top-ten finishes from Michael Olise (second), Joshua Kimmich (fourth) and Manuel Neuer (tenth) with the men and Klara Bühl (second), Pernille Harder (seventh) and Linda Dallmann (tenth) among the women.
Kane is the first Bayern player since Robert Lewandowski in 2021 to be named Germany’s Player of the Year. It’s the 25th time a Munich player has been the recipient – a record by some distance ahead of Borussia Mönchengladbach (six). Franz Beckenbauer is the record holder with four.
Kompany is the first Bayern coach to earn the accolade since Hansi Flick in 2020. Bayern again hold the record in this category with seven wins.
Gwinn successfully retained her title as Women’s Player of the Year. It’s the third time it has come to Munich since the award was introduced in 1996.
