The squad for the Audi Summer Tour 2024

Off we go to Seoul! FC Bayern set off for South Korea on Wednesday for the Audi Summer Tour 2024, with a total of 26 players are in the German record champions' squad. Among them are the majority of the German participants in UEFA EURO 2024 as well as new signing João Palhinha, all of whom returned to team training on Wednesday.

New signing Michael Olise, who is currently still involved at the Olympic Games, as well as Kingsley Coman, Dayot Upamecano, Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Kane and Alphonso Davies, who are still on holiday after taking part in the European Championship and the Copa América respectively, did not travel with the squad. Also absent are the injured Arijon Ibrahimović (torn muscle), Daniel Peretz (thigh tendon injury) and Hiroki Ito (metatarsal fracture). Leroy Sané and Tarek Buchmann will also not be involved in South Korea, as both players are currently completing an individual recovery programme.

These youth players are taking part in the Audi Summer Tour

A total of seven FC Bayern youth players are taking part in the Audi Summer Tour. Let's get to know the young talents in more detail.

Max Schmitt

The still short CV of reserves keeper Max Schmitt could hardly look any better. The 18-year-old stopper, who has played for FC Bayern since 2017, is not only a European champion but also a World Cup winner with the Germany U17s and played a key role in his team's success at both tournaments (six & five appearances as number 1). Last season, Schmitt not only played for the U19s (10 league & five Youth League games), but also made his debut for the reserves (five appearances). He also kept a clean sheet in the Regionalliga opener against Burghausen. Schmitt is an extremely ambitious player, excellent on the goal line and difficult to beat in one-on-one situations.

Anthony Pavlešić

Last season, FC Bayern signed Australian goalkeeper Anthony Pavlešić from the Central Coast Mariners Academy. Despite his young age, the 18-year-old keeper, who also has Croatian citizenship, exudes composure and impresses with his quick reflexes. His footwork is also worth noting. Last season, the stopper celebrated his reserves debut in the 4-2 win over Ansbach. He made a total of 20 appearances in a Bayern jersey last season, including 15 in the U19s Bundesliga and four in the Youth League.

Adam Aznou

Adam Aznou plies his trade on the left wing. Born in Spain, the Morocco U23 international moved to Munich from Barcelona in 2022 and initially played for the record champions' U17s (nine appearances / 2 goals / 1 assist) and U19s (15 league appearances / 2 goals / 2 assists). In addition to eight appearances in the Youth League (1 goal / 3 assists), the 18-year-old has already amassed over 1,200 minutes of action in the Bavarian Regionalliga (12 games / 1 assist). Aznou can be deployed at left-back as well as further forward. The 1.78 metre-tall left-footer impresses with his fast pace, refined skills and dribbling. He already made one appearance in a first-team jersey at the start of the year, in the 1-1 draw in the friendly against Basel.

Javier Fernández

The 17-year-old Spaniard plies his trade in central midfield and has been an integral part of the reserves squad since the start of the year. Last season, the all-rounder made eight appearances in the Regionalliga before a groin injury sidelined him towards the end of the season. Prior to that, ‘Javi’ had already caused a sensation in the U19 Bundesliga (13 appearances / 7 goals / 1 assist) and in the UEFA Youth League (nine appearances / 3 goals / 2 assists), where he occasionally led his team out as captain. The U18 international can play in both an attacking and defensive role in central midfield and impresses with his physical presence, good passing and sublime skills.

Noel Aseko Nkili

In the summer of 2022, Noel Aseko Nkili moved from Hertha BSC's youth setup to the FC Bayern Campus. The defensive midfielder initially played for the record champions' U19s (nine league appearance / 1 goal / 1 assist) before playing for the reserves in Germany's fourth-highest division. The 18-year-old, who has been sidelined several times in the past due to injury, is currently on 18 Regionalliga appearances. In January, the midfielder also made his debut for the first team in a friendly against Basel and lost no time in chalking up his first goal. Aseko Nkili, who signed his first professional contract with FCB last May, puts in a lot of legwork, is strong in the tackle and impresses with his build-up play.

Adin Ličina

Adin Ličina made his debut for the FC Bayern reserves in the final game of last season. It was coach Holger Seitz's reward for the impressive dribbler's performances in the U19 Bundesliga (23 appearances / 9 goals / 3 assists) and in the Youth League (eight appearances). The 17-year-old made the most of the opportunity and scored his first goal at men's level against Eintracht Bamberg. Ličina has now been at the club for almost ten years and is a player who is hard to get the ball off. The Germany U17 international often uses his good vision to try to set up his teammates, but also has a strong left-foot finish of his own and scored twice on his senior debut against Rottach-Egern.

Nestory Irankunda

The 18-year-old winger moved to the FC Bayern Campus just this summer from Adelaide United in the Australian A-League Men and completed almost five weeks of pre-season with the FC Bayern reserves. In his first appearance in a friendly against Austria Lustenau, the Australia international immediately displayed his finishing credentials with a goal. In the Regionalliga opener against Wacker Burghausen, he played 45 minutes and only the crossbar stopped him from scoring his first competitive goal. Irankunda's strengths are his fast pace, his prowess in one-on-one situations and his powerful finishing. He was also rewarded with a goal in the friendly at the Tegernsee (10-1).
