    Bayern triumph in top-of-the-table clash

    © FC Bayern

A crucial victory for FC Bayern in the top-of-the-table clash. On Saturday evening, the Bundesliga leaders fended off an attack from their pursuers Borussia Dortmund and celebrated a 2-1 victory in the Klassiker showdown. But head coach Vincent Kompany did not dwell on the celebrations for long: “It all starts again from tomorrow and we have to improve our performance again. That's my focus – the lads aren't interested in how many points we have either, but in winning everything we can. We've gained this momentum through hard work, and we don't want to lose it.”

    Focus on Leipzig

The new Bundesliga season kicks off on Friday with a home game against RB Leipzig. Bayern already have wind in their sails on the back of last week’s Franz Beckenbauer Supercup success in Stuttgart. “We’re on it mentally, which is important. The hunger is there. It’s about improving. The motivation is huge,” said Vincent Kompany at Thursday’s pre-match press conference.
