Dayot Upamecano left the France national team’s training camp in Clairefontaine on Saturday to return to Munich. The defender was sent off towards the end of Friday evening’s 1–1 draw with Italy and is suspended for Les Bleus in their final match of the current round of internationals against Belgium on 5 October.

Serge Gnabry has left the German national team camp and returned to Munich. The 31-year-old is the only player to have featured in all three of the team’s matches in the current UEFA Nations League campaign so far, and captained Germany in their 2-0 win over Serbia in Munich on Thursday. Gnabry will not be part of the 23-man squad that new coach Jürgen Klopp is allowed to name for the upcoming encounter against Greece in Thessaloniki.

A few hours before their Nations League clash against Serbia at Munich’s Allianz Arena, the German national team visited the FC Bayern Campus on Thursday afternoon for a short activation session. The squad of new coach Jürgen Klopp includes five players from the German record champions – Jonas Urbig, Serge Gnabry, Lennart Karl, Tom Bischof and Aleksandar Pavlović – who are all hoping to feature in this evening’s match at their home ground.

Michael Olise has been named Bundesliga Player of the Months after his impressive performances in September. The Frenchman was directly involved in four goals during this period (three goals, one assist) and, amongst other things, scored his first hat-trick in the German top flight during the 7–0 thrashing of Union Berlin. In total, Olise had 12 shots on target in the Bundesliga last month; only Harry Kane and Ibrahim Maza bettered that in the league (13 each).

Although the international break is still in full swing, a packed October fixture list is already looming large. The Bayern players on international duty are away until next Tuesday (6 October). Once they return to Munich, things will come thick and fast for the FCB men. From the local derby at FC Augsburg (10 October) to Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund at the end of the month (31 October), Vincent Kompany’s side face seven matches in the space of 22 days. In the middle of the month, Bayern travel to the far north to face Norwegian champions Viking Stavanger (13 October), followed by home games against Leipzig in the Bundesliga (17 October), Arsenal in the Champions League (21 October) and 1. FC Magdeburg in the DFB Cup (28 October), as well as another away fixture at SC Freiburg (25 October).

Both before and after the matches, head coach Vincent Kompany, along with players and club officials, will as usual share their thoughts on current issues during the pre- and post-match press conferences. In addition, you’ll once again be able to watch 15 minutes of the final training sessions live ahead of the two fixtures against Arsenal and Stavanger. A special highlight awaits football fans on 26 October, when the Ballon d’Or for the world’s best footballer is awarded in London – an occasion on which several Bayern players have good reason to be hopeful. There are also two birthday boys in October: assistant coach Daniel Fradley turns 36 on 12 October, whilst Dayot Upamecano celebrates his 28th birthday on 27 October.

Having started the newly formed Champions League with a 2-0 defeat at Paris Saint-Germain two weeks earlier, Bayern had every reason to celebrate on 28 September 1994. On this day 32 years ago, Giovanni Trapattoni’s men claimed a 1-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv – Mehmet Scholl was the match-winner with the goal in the ninth minute. It was the German record champions’ first win in the reformed European champions’ competition – and it wouldn’t be the last.

The bulk of the FC Bayern squad are still away for the bumper international break, so head coach Vincent Kompany has again not scheduled any official team training sessions for the week ahead.

Jan-Christian Dreesen is also thrilled that Munich has been selected as the host city for the German Olympic Sports Confederation’s Olympic bid: “FC Bayern is delighted about Munich’s selection as the German candidate for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. We will continue to support our home city in the best way we can, now that it’s about persuading internationally. Over the decades, figures from our club have experienced the unifying power of the Games for themselves, from Uli Hoeneß to Serge Gnabry, Michael Olise and Klara Bühl, or most recently Andreas Obst at Paris 2024. Germany needs the courage for big projects and the enthusiasm that stems from them. Our shared aim is to make Munich a meeting point for everyone, for the whole world. FC Bayern stands ready to contribute as an ambassador,” explained the club’s CEO.

The Bavarian state capital beat off the rival bid from the Cologne-Rhine-Ruhr region in Saturday’s DOSB vote on the candidate for the coming years.

Michael Olise remains in top form during the international break. In France’s 1-0 win over Türkiye in the UEFA Nations League, the Bayern winger laid on the only goal of the game. It was his ninth assist in this calendar year for Les Bleus - something last achieved by Raymond Kopa in 1958. And there are still five matches left in 2026 for Olise and France. The 24-year-old has been in impressive form in recent months: he’s now registered six assists and eight goals in his last nine competitive games for club and country, only failing to provide a goal contribution in the Bundesliga matches against Elversberg and Schalke.  

In the Bundesliga clash with Werder Bremen exactly a year ago, Harry Kane broke a barrier: in his 104th appearance for FC Bayern, the Englishman scored his 99th and 100th competitive goals, thereby setting a new record. No other player had ever reached triple figures for a single club so quickly. The record had previously been held by Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland, who had both scored their 100th competitive goal in their 105th appearance for Real Madrid and Manchester City respectively.

Jamal Musiala is set to return early from duty with the German national team. As the German Football Association announced on Friday, the FC Bayern midfielder has suffered a torn muscle fibre in his right thigh. The 23-year-old picked up the injury on Thursday evening whilst warming up for the DFB side’s UEFA Nations League opener in the Netherlands; Musiala had actually been named in the starting XI for the match in Amsterdam.

Musiala will now work on his rehab over the coming days, just as Konrad Laimer is currently doing following his injury. The Austrian was back in action at Säbener Straße on Friday and completed an individual training session on the pitch alongside Lennart Karl, who will not join up with the Germany squad until their games in October.

Once one of the best strikers of his generation and later at the helm of FC Bayern for many years – Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is celebrating turning 71 today. We wish him all the best!

Konrad Laimer trained with the ball today at Säbener Straße for the first time since picking up an injury. Also training individually were Germany internationals Lennart Karl, Aleksandar Pavlović and goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, who are preparing to join up with new Germany coach Jürgen Klopp’s squad for the second part of the Nations League fixtures. Tickets are still available here for the game against Serbia on 1 October in Munich; the squad will then travel to Thessaloniki to face Greece.

There's also some good news regarding Maycon Cardozo: the 17-year-old took part in his first running session at Säbener Straße following his shoulder operation, taking the first step towards his comeback.

Today marks 49 years since one of Bayern’s more memorable results as the Reds recorded the biggest win in Bundesliga history when a player down. Katsche Schwarzenbeck put the hosts ahead after 24 minutes against Schalke at the Olympiastadion, but Bayern were down to 10 men only five minutes later when Josef Weiß was sent off. Dettmar Cramer’s side weren’t disheartened, though, as Bernd Dürnberger doubled the lead barely 120 seconds later. Even Rüdiger Abramczik’s goal for Schalke before half-time didn’t knock them. Instead, Bayern went on the offensive in real style in the second half with more goals from Uli Hoeneß (59’), Kurt Niedermayer (73’), Gerd Müller (79’), Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (85’) and a Hannes Bongartz own goal (89’) to round off a 7-1 victory and a place in Bundesliga history.

There’s good news on Konrad Laimer after the Austria international successfully completed a running session in bright sunshine at Säbener Straße today following the minor groin injury that forced him to miss the Bundesliga win at home to Union Berlin. Jonas Urbig also trained individually. The goalkeeper will link up with Germany for the matches against Serbia in Munich on 1 October (tickets here) and against Greece in Thessaloniki.

On the morning after the home game against Union Berlin, FC Bayern fans, ‘PACK MA’S’ volunteers and a team of ‘Waldkicker’ – an educational project that combines football with age-appropriate learning on climate and nature for children – cleared litter from the esplanade outside the Allianz Arena. Supported by our partner PreZero, the helpers mucked in for three hours for World Cleanup Day. The initiative was implemented as part of the ‘mitnand’ sustainability strategy.

Bayern’s Michael Olise has been voted the ‘Player of the Season 2025/26’ by users of the website transfermarkt.de. The French winger received 42.7% of the votes, beating team-mate Harry Kane (26%). With 15 goals and 21 assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances, Olise became the first player to register at least 15 goals and 20 assists in a single campaign.

International break, what international break? On Tuesday, Aleksandar Pavlović, Jonas Urbig and Lennart Karl took part in individual sessions at Säbener Straße. The trio have been called up for Germany’s two UEFA Nations League fixtures in October and are keeping themselves fit in Munich until then. The first of the two Germany team squads arrived at their training base in Herzogenaurach today, including five Bayern players: Nathaniel Brown, Jonathan Tah, Serge Gnabry, Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala. The DFB side, under new head coach Jürgen Klopp, will travel to the Netherlands on 24 September for their Nations League opener with this squad, before taking on Greece in Augsburg on 27 September. Lennart Karl will join up with the squad later in line with his workload management programme, as will Tom Bischof, Jonas Urbig and Aleksandar Pavlović. They'll then take on Serbia at the Allianz Arena (1 October, 20:45 CEST) before playing a second game against Greece in Thessaloniki.

First, the bad news: we’ll have to wait nearly three weeks before we see the recently thrilling FC Bayern in action again. As the current, extended international break will last over two weeks, the German champions’ next Bundesliga outing won’t take place until 10 October in Augsburg.

As we head towards Oktoberfest weekend, FC Bayern are gearing up for their home clash against Union Berlin on Bundesliga Matchday 4 at the Allianz Arena on Friday (20:30 CEST). With a victory over the capital club, the Reds can equal a record of 10 consecutive Friday night wins in the league. But there were already celebrations before training on Wednesday: Joshua Kimmich received a special cake in honour of his 500th competitive appearance in an FCB shirt, which he made at Elversberg last Sunday. Joshua Kimmich came off the bench in Elversberg to make his 500th competitive appearance in Bayern colours, becoming only the 12th player to reach the milestone and going level with Bastian Schweinsteiger’s total.

In the 2-2 draw against Stuttgart on 10 September 2022, Bayern scored for the 87th Bundesliga game in a row, setting a record that still stands to this day in Germany’s top flight. The run started around two and a half years before that in the Reds’ 4-1 victory at Köln (16 February 2020).

FC Bayern have secured the services of Tim Binder on a long-term basis. The German youth international has signed a professional contract through to 30 June 2030. Binder joined the FC Bayern academy from FC Augsburg at the age of 12 in 2019 and has risen through the youth ranks at the Campus.

Monday saw Vincent Kompany’s team hold their first training session of the week following Sunday’s day off, with the squad back on the pitch at Säbener Straße full of vigour ahead of their opening Champions League fixture.

Bayern’s first-ever meeting with Bodø/Glimt brings the opportunity to extend a Champions League record that as seen the Reds win each of their last 22 fixtures on Matchday 1 in the group stage or league phase. You can read more interesting stats ahead of Thursday’s game here.

Bayern have another busy week ahead, starting with a rare Thursday fixture as they begin the league phase of the Champions League at home to Bodø/Glimt (21:00 CEST). There’s then a first-ever meeting with Bundesliga newcomers Elversberg on Sunday (17:30).

Kompany has scheduled five training sessions over the coming days, although Friday will only be for recovery after the Bodø/Glimt game. As ever for a Champions League match, you’ll be able to watch the first 15 minutes of pre-match training on Wednesday. Despite several good chances, Bayern had to settle for a 0-0 draw away at Schalke on Saturday evening. It was the first time since the loss to PSG in the Club World Cup in summer 2025 that the Reds had failed to score in a competitive fixture. “Maybe we lacked something at times with these big chances. We also had a quarter of an hour where our positioning wasn’t optimal and we lacked the speed in our passing to be able to hurt the opponent. Apart from that, the stats are in our favour,” said captain Manuel Neuer.

Bayern’s players held their final training session on Friday before heading off for their first away game of the Bundesliga season and first visit to Gelsenkirchen to face Schalke for over three years. Their last away meeting with the Royal Blues was a 2-0 win in November 2022, although Bayern did visit the Ruhr city in December 2024 for a Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk, winning 5-1. Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Vincent Kompany insisted that Bayern cannot underestimate Schalke as a promoted side. “We have the role of favourites, but we can’t believe in it. You don’t automatically take a good performance against Osnabrück or Stuttgart with you. A match always starts from zero. They can’t be hungrier than us, even if they’re really excited after three years away [in Bundesliga 2],” the Belgian said. Read more from his press conference here.

Whilst the majority of the Bayern squad undertook a recovery session on Thursday following last night's cup win at Osnabrück (4–1), Serge Gnabry got out onto the pitch this morning. Alongside youth player Tim Binder, who is currently recovering from a torn muscle fibre in his right hamstring, the 31-year-old attacking midfielder continued to work on his comeback.

Harry Kane, who bagged a brace, was once again named Man of the Match in the first-round tie between VfL Osnabrück and FC Bayern. Following his hat-trick in the final against Stuttgart (3–0) in May, it means the Englishman has seamlessly continued his recent run of strong performances in the competition. The striker has scored in each of his last seven DFB Cup matches, thereby already equalling the club record set by Gerd Müller and Thomas Müller, who had also found the net in seven consecutive matches in the competition from 1967 to 1968 and 2013 to 2014 respectively. Since the founding of the Bundesliga, Dieter Müller is the only player to have bettered those stats with ten matches for 1. FC Köln from 1976 to 1977.

Despite falling behind early, FC Bayern ultimately booked their place in the DFB Cup second round in convincing style. Vincent Kompany’s side won 4-1 at Bundesliga 2 outfit VfL Osnabrück on Wednesday evening, winning their opening game in the competition for the 31st time in a row (record!). On Tuesday afternoon, Vincent Kompany’s side completed their final training session ahead of their first-round DFB Cup tie at VfL Osnabrück. Under glorious sunshine at Säbener Straße, the Munich men worked on some fine-tuning to hopefully secure their place in the next round on Wednesday evening (20:45 CEST). Ahead of the session, there was also a surprise for Manuel Neuer. The Bayern captain had made his 600th appearance for FC Bayern at the weekend and was presented with a cake by sporting director Christoph Freund to mark the occasion.

On 1 September 2018 – exactly eight years ago – Serge Gnabry made his first appearance in a competitive match for FC Bayern. Having missed the season opener through injury, the then new signing made his debut in the 3–0 win over VfB Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena on Matchday 2. In the 77th minute, the attacking player came off the bench for Franck Ribéry, whose number 7 shirt he would go on to inherit around two years later. To date, Gnabry, who has been out of action for the Munich side since the spring due to a torn adductor muscle in his right thigh, has racked up 103 goals and 63 assists in 322 appearances for FCB – and we can expect more to follow as soon as he's fit again.

DFB Cup, Bundesliga, Champions League – the coming month will see FC Bayern in action in three different competitions. In the cup, the holders kick off their campaign on Wednesday evening at VfL Osnabrück. Eight days later, the men from Munich then have their first encounter in Europe's premier club competition with a home game against Bodø/Glimt (10 September) at the Allianz Arena. In the Bundesliga, Vincent Kompany’s side face away clashes against newly promoted FC Schalke 04 (5 September) and SV Elversberg (13 September), as well as an evening kick-off at home against 1.
