More EURO 2024 participants start pre-season at FC Bayern

The days of relaxing in a hammock on an idyllic beach are over - it was back to the daily routine today with the first performance tests for FC Bayern's German EURO 2024 participants Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller, Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich. "They've not quite come straight from the beach, they had their training schedule and so will already be at a certain fitness level," revealed board member for sport Max Eberl on Sunday after the 1-1 draw in the friendly at 1. FC Düren. New signing João Palhinha also started work at Säbener Straße for the first time in Munich on Monday.

Leroy Sané, who underwent groin surgery after the European Championship, also completed a running session in the morning. Kingsley Coman, Dayot Upamecano and Matthijs de Ligt, who progressed to the semi-finals with France and the Netherlands respectively, are still on holiday. Finalists Harry Kane (England) and Alphonso Davies (Canada, after the Copa América) are also enjoying some well-earned time off.

Konrad Laimer, who reached the last 16 of the European Championship with Austria and had already completed his performance tests on Friday, trained individually on the pitch for the first time on Monday morning.

Friendly against Spurs on 3 August

The German EURO participants will also travel on the six-day Audi Summer Tour to South Korea, which starts on Wednesday. On 3 August, FC Bayern face top Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur in a friendly in Seoul (live on FC Bayern TV PLUS).

The second clash with Spurs on 10 August in London, which will be broadcast live and exclusively on FC Bayern TV PLUS, is seen by board member for sport Max Eberl as a "dress rehearsal" for the first competitive fixture, the DFB Cup 1st round tie against newly-promoted Bundesliga 2 side Ulm on 16 August. Three days before that, there will be a friendly against Austrian Bundesliga side WSG Tirol at SpVgg Unterhaching's stadium.

Eberl: "Only a short time until the cup game"

"We only have a short time until the cup game in Ulm," said Eberl, "we have to continue to adapt, continue to get used to each other, continue to internalise the new ideas. That will be the task in the short time available, but also to regain a bit of confidence with every game."
